I’m a down-feather-comforter-all-year-round kind of girl, but I always get a little itch to update my place when the seasons change. Okay, I get that “seasons” don’t technically exist in California…I’ll blame this on my Midwest roots and the fact that my mom let me fully redecorate my room three times growing up. The walls are still a poppy shade of lavender. Eek.

Sarah here! I’ve been crushing on the black and white theme lately. It’s a great way to create a chic and timeless space! There is so much room to play with specific moods when you use high contrast pieces. People tend to stay away from the cliché, but I say go for it and make it your own!

As a relatively pop culture savvy twenty-something, I’m embarrassed to admit that it wasn’t until recently that I discovered what all that #TBT business was about. Though I find it a little cheesy, I’m totally sentimental and I love seeing everyone’s old pics.

Though it has nothing to do with design, here are a few “vintage” photos of Caitlin and me. Our friendship spans several years and almost as many hair styles. Caitlin has been everything from chestnut brunette to platinum blonde…and apparently, we like to rock a straight bang or side sweep simultaneously.

Desert decor has slowly and beautifully eased its way into all other styles in decor simply because it’s fabulous and everyone loves it. Something about an oasis in the middle of a desert is incredibly appealing in an Aladdin kind of way. One of the best hubs of desert design is PALM SPRINGS. Palm Springs – Part One

Caitlin & Caitlin Design Co. took a field trip to palm springs last weekend for the popular music festival, Coachella! I was a great time to brainstorm about exciting upcoming C+C projects while enjoying warm breezes and sweet jams:) Our favorites? The Lumineers, Two Door Cinema Club, and Tegan and Sara!

CUSTOM CONFERENCE

It was an ordeal, but we finally installed a custom conference table we commissioned for our clients down in Orange County. It took eight wings of acrylic, two slabs of marble, one steel frame, and quite a bit of coordination, but we think it looks beautiful and we hope you do too! Now we can’t wait to install the 12 caramel leather executive chairs and finishing touches to the room for it to really come together!

Spotlight on Brendan Ravenhill

I met Brendan at Unique LA this year. All of his stuff is awesome, but I am particularly obsessed with his “Dustbin” product. Folks, it’s genius. He has found a way to make waste disposal beautiful and fun (no joke!). Its geometric shape is made of white powder coated steel and has a detachable swinging door. The swinging door can be used as dustpan with the handheld sweeper that comes with. Oh yeah.. and it conveniently attaches back to the body of the bin with hidden magnets when you’re done. I LOVE mine. Guy’s a rockstar. Look at all of his beautiful, modern pieces, including “Dustbin”, here!
